The decision to celebrate away from home is usually made earlier in the family than it seems. First someone says, “Maybe this year without cooking,” then you have to align the dates with grandparents, work, and school. And once everything is finally set, it often turns out that others had the same idea sooner.
Here’s why choosing a Christmas Eve and Christmas getaway in the mountains in November is worth it - and how to plan your holidays in Świeradów-Zdrój in the Izery Mountains so that from day one it’s time to relax, not a time for organizing.
Christmas Eve 2026 falls on Thursday
This year, 24 December falls on Thursday, with the first and second days of the holidays on Friday and Saturday. So many families have a long holiday weekend that doesn’t end until Sunday, 27 December. When the calendar works for everyone, everyone looks for the same dates.
Our mountain holidays package runs from 20 to 27 December 2026, with a stay of at least three nights. Arriving on Christmas Eve and returning on Sunday means exactly three nights. Many families, however, prefer to come a few days earlier and ease into the festive mood calmly, rather than spending 24 December on the road.
Why November, not December
The first reason is simple: prices rise as the date gets closer because interest increases. The earlier you book, the more stays in the family budget-and with a several-day stay, that difference is noticeable.
The second reason is flexibility in choosing. Earlier booking gives you more time to match a room or a family apartment, select the time for the Christmas Eve dinner, and plan some time just for yourselves at Sensus SPA. And if your plans change, with direct booking you can cancel for free up to 7 days before arrival. So an early decision closes nothing.
A Christmas Eve dinner without standing by the kitchen
The most important moment is the evening of 24 December: a table full of traditional dishes, carols played live, and a visit from Santa Claus-one that children are waiting for since the morning. In your room, a festive gift awaits every guest, and to welcome you, adults and children receive a welcome drink. On this day, no one in the family has to stand in the kitchen.
We serve the Christmas Eve dinner in two sittings. The earlier sitting works well for families with little kids who get tired quickly in the evening. The later sitting lets you spend the afternoon at the pool or on a walk and sit down to dinner without rushing. You choose the sitting when booking, so it’s worth confirming it within the family in advance.
Festive days at the shared table
The first and second day of the holidays start with a festive breakfast with a glass of Prosecco, and end with a shared evening meal with a traditional menu. Kids have their own buffet, so everyone will find something to suit them at the table.
Between meals, there’s time for what’s usually missing at Christmas: a long walk, an afternoon in the wellness area with a pool, jacuzzi, and saunas or a shared visit to the LUMINA immersive room, with a ticket for every guest. The holidays pass in the rhythm of rest, not dishes.
A festive adventure for children
For the youngest guests, we’ve prepared the kids’ animation program “Express Train to the Land of Holidays”. Children meet our mascot Elma, make Christmas tree decorations with their parents, and have fun at the mini disco. On the first day of the holidays, they visit the elf factory and kick off the Polar Olympics and they finish with a festive reindeer ball.
On festive mornings, our animators invite children aged 4 and up to activities under their care. It’s a great time for parents to enjoy a coffee in peace or take a treatment at Sensus SPA. A present is also for adults.
Holidays together as a family
Christmas is a time for everyone, so we made sure that every guest feels well looked after. Children up to 3 years old who sleep in a bed with their parents come for free, and for older children and teens we’ve prepared lower prices. With direct booking, treatments at Sensus SPA are 5% cheaper. You can also bring your dog on the festive trip. Your four-legged guest will have a bed and a bowl in the room. No one in the family has to stay at home.
After the holidays: skiing and New Year’s Eve
It’s easy to combine the holidays with a winter break. The Ski&Sun Ski Resort’s piste is 300 meters from the hotel, ski passes can be bought without queues at the Concierge desk, and Snow Factory produces snow regardless of the weather. More about what winter in the mountains looks like in Świeradów-Zdrój, which we describe on a separate page.
If you’d like to stay longer, you can smoothly move from Christmas to New Year. On 27 December, our mountain New Year’s Eve begins in the style of Winter Wonderland, with a New Year’s Eve ball to welcome in 2027.
