Attraction for everyone
According to chronicles, at the beginning of the 16th century the Jizera Mountains in the area of Swieradow-Zdroj had already become an object of mining research and exploration. Today we can admire the effects of centuries of miners' work. Numerous adits, as well as pits stimulate the imagination and encourage research by history and geology enthusiasts.
Geopark is an open hiking trail, an unusual attraction of the Jizera Mountains. The first point is located in the village of Krobica. The St. John Mine is a 350m underground route leading through the St. John and Leopold adits. The facility can be visited 364 days a year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and during periods of higher tourist traffic until 6 p.m. After purchasing a ticket, a guide takes visitors underground to the past, tells them about ancient ore mining, the life of a miner and the extraction of tin ore. Tours take place every 30 minutes during the high season, and at full hours during periods with less tourist traffic.
For safety reasons, St. John's Mine welcomes children aged 6 and older.

Yes, for safety reasons, St. John’s Mine welcomes children who are at least 6 years old. The tour route passes through authentic mining tunnels, so adhering to this age limit is essential to ensure the safety of our youngest visitors.
The underground tunnels maintain a constant, low temperature (approx. 7–8°C) and high humidity year-round. Even if it’s hot outside, it’s a good idea to bring a warmer sweatshirt or jacket and comfortable, closed-toe shoes for the tour.
