The Jizera Mountains is a mountain range located in the Western Sudetes, in the Czech Republic and Poland. On the Polish side, it stretches between Szklarska Poręba and Świeradów-Zdroj. They are famous for having two faces: a gentle one with picturesque meadows and murmuring streams, and a cold one, shaped by a chilly climate, somewhat reminiscent of Siberia.
The Jizera Mountains, owing to their relatively gentle slopes, are ideal for family mountain trips. They are also popular among mountain bikers. In winter, classic skiers flock here to enjoy over than 100 kilometers of ski trails.
In total, the Jizera Mountains cover an area of about 1000 km2. The 400 km2 area on the Polish side is divided into two massifs: the High Ridge with Wysoka Kopa (1126 m above sea level) and the Kamienica Ridge with Kamienica (973 m above sea level). Stunning, not very high mountain peaks, picturesque stream valleys, rocky outcrops - regardless of the season, amazing impressions await tourists here.

The Izera Mountains are the westernmost range of the Sudetes in Poland. They are located in Lower Silesia, on the Polish-Czech border, between Szklarska Poręba and Świeradów-Zdrój. On the Czech side, they lie in the Liberec Region.
The highest peak in the Izera Mountains is Wysoka Kopa, at 1,126 meters above sea level, located in the Wysoki Grzbiet range on the Polish side. The second-highest peak is Smrek (1,124 meters above sea level) on the Czech side.
The Dr. Mieczysław Orłowicz Main Sudeten Trail runs through the Jizera Mountains, starting in Świeradów-Zdrój. Popular routes lead to Wysoka Kopa, Stóg Izerski, Wysoki Kamień, Smrek, as well as to Chatka Górzystów and Schronisko Orle.
The most frequently visited attractions include: Hala Izerska, the Izera Dark Sky Park, the PTTK shelter on Stóg Izerski, Chatka Górzystów, the Orle Tourist Station, the Wysoki Kamień shelter, the Ski&Sun gondola lift, and the Sky Walk in Świeradów-Zdrój.
Yes, the Izera Mountains are considered one of the most beginner-friendly ranges in the Sudetes. They have gentler ridges than the Karkonosze Mountains and many low-difficulty trails, ideal for families with children and those just starting their adventure in the mountains.
The main tourist centers include Świeradów-Zdrój (a health resort and a base for exploring the western part of the mountains), Szklarska Poręba (a base for the eastern part), Jakuszyce (a cross-country skiing center), and Rozdroże Izerskie. On the Czech side, Jizerka and Bedřichov are popular.
